Behold the recently-arrived Ianos Mihanikos! I cannot tell a lie - I had periodic doubts as I was waiting through the pre-order. But I genuinely like it now that I have the ΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΟΣ in my hands! It has a definite sense of its own style. I've mostly been avoiding especially thick watches recently, and this is... not thin. It's kind of a boulder on the wrist. But a GOOD boulder, a stylish boulder. Because also: I really dislike it when watches on a one-piece strap perch on top of the strap and hover in the air above your wrist. In this one there's a channel in the back of the watch, hewn into the very steel of it, which provides a place for the thickish strap to nestle and lie completely flush. (See photos 2 and 3) So the watch is actually a little extra thick just so it won't hover. IMO, it works. ...and just because they Couldn't Stop Designing In Details, there are roller sleeves on the fixed bars so it's super easy to pull the strap in, and the rubber strap has indentations for those bars molded into it. Nice. [jbm-20220901-gfx-stack-028_041-f11-ianos]
You know where I always love visiting? 'Round back behind the JLC Master Control Calendar. It's a lovely neighborhood. [jbm-20220901-sl2-stack-009_011-f11-jlc-back-closer-selected-frames]
